needs MOAR GOAR

Other than the lack of zombie guts/brains shotgunned all over the ground, this was pretty slick. Hot damn, if I didn't know any better, I would've said chluaid made this.

melt-your-face-awesome

Very good quality animation.

WANT MOAR

Hilariously twisted

Just what I expect from this site. Good job!

Don't appreciate cheap tricks force registration

The game is good enough, a good variation on the tower defense/ linear rts themes. But what I don't appreciate is forcing us to register on the site in order to save our game. It's not a huge deal, but it's certainly irritating.

Lots of potential

But like everyone else has said, very buggy. Could you PLEASE post an explanation on how to equip the powerups until a revised version of the game is posted!

This game is really cool, regardless of what any of those other tools say. Just FOR THE LOVE OF GOD polish it! I would like to see an updated version soon.

decent

Pretty fun, but here's some helpful advice-- some people (often including me-- and a few reviewers below) are morons, and either take a while or are unable to figure out a game on their own. In the first level maybe you should indicate that you're supposed to click on one of the green blocks to place it.

Again, for the benefit of others who'll spend five minutes bashing their mouses in frustration before (while drooling on the keyboard) write something to the effect of "Z0MG DIS IZ T3H LAYMZ0RZ CUZ I'Z A BRAYN-DED M0LUSK!!!111!1one"

CLICK ON THE GREEN BLOCKS, AND PLACE THEM SO THAT THEY BOUNCE THE CHARACTER AROUND

Seriously, idiots not being able to figure out the game is a dumb reason for you to receive unfairly low scores.

Haven't heard many like this on NG. Think it deserves a better name though.

Just remembered what this reminded me of...

Anyone remember Star Control II: The Ur Quan Masters?
This sounds very similar to the hyperspace music from that game. Good memories. Go search youtube for "star control ii hyperspace remix"

SolusLunes responds:

Calvert, eh? Mr. Lagrange Calvert? :D

Sounds a lot like bonobo

Don't know if you were intending to draw on that. Pretty good, in any case.

Gas giant?

Are these supposed to be some huge Jovian-dwelling gasbag creatures? Something to provide a sense of scale would be nice. Also the blur seems to be a little strong-- is that supposed to be due to depth-of-field? Other than those two things, very cool.

brettamatowski responds:

They are just...skygoats. Honestly, I have no idea. Haha I was just practicing clouds really. :)

I tried to find a reason to give this a 9...

But I couldn't bring myself to do it. This is just too cool. This is what impressionism is all about... it's very evocative and atmospheric, as others have said. The only changes I could possibly suggest are entirely personal preference, so it wouldn't be fair to dock you on that. That being said, this already awesome piece could possibly be more appealing to me personally if the following were done:
-Slightly wider color pallet. The sepia-tone-ish look is cool in its own right, almost reminds me of Korriban from KOTOR 1, but this seems almost hopeful and warrants subtle addition of hues to the sky, the ships, and perhaps the monks.
-Speaking of which, the monks could stand out more, either by adding subtle coloring, or making them more exposed or maybe standing in a beam of sunlight filtering through holes in the overhanging wrecks.
-Texture. This is damn good, and I would guess excruciating realism is not your goal anyways. But, adding texture to the rocks and ruins and ships would make the give the picture depth and make it pop-out a little more.

If you decide to update this later, I would be eager to see it, whether or not you take my very subjective advice.

keepwalking responds:

Thanks a lot for your review, it is verry supportive!
:)

atmospheric

I wish I could better describe my reaction. At any rate, this is pretty awesome. Took me a second to realize the backdrop was a skyscape and not just a mottled green surface. The only thing I might suggest is maybe a little more in the backdrop for context (e.g. city skyline). I was hoping to see more in the same vein as your superstition piece though.

ghlow responds:

The superstition sort of painterly style tend to be my default style, but I chose to do the concentration this way because it's more design-oriented and more print-type illustration. There will definitely be more painterly works intermittently or after the conclusion of this series. :D
